The Badlands is a barren area on the island where little precipitation occurs and, consequently, living conditions are hostile for plant and animal life. People have struggled to live in these deserts and the surrounding semi-arid lands for millennia. Many, such as the Bushmen in the Kalahari, the Aborigines in Australia, and various tribes of North American Indians, were originally hunter-gatherers. They developed skills like manufacturing and using weapons, animal tracking, finding water, foraging for edible plants, and using the things they found in their natural environment to supply their everyday needs. Their self-sufficient skills and knowledge were passed down through the generations by word of mouth. However, all of these kinds of self-sufficiency are completely wasted on the only people crazy enough to go live in The Badlands; the inhabitants of the little trailer park town of Bixlton. They have their own ideas on how to live there and have managed to get by against all the odds.

Most notable sights

Even though the desert environment doesn't allow for a whole lot of interesting sights, the following things are worth mentioning:

  • Bixlton - A trailer park town in the middle of the desert.

  • The Sandy Pimple - A particularly noticable hill with the areas' only 5G celltower situated on top of it.

  • The Inland Whale - A whale in the desert? One would think that is something weird, but apparently it happens in deserts all over the world. Something to do with water being there thousands of years ago, and drying up. Fuck if we know. All we know is that there are whale bones here with strange inscriptions on them, probably made by those who came before. The constantly shifting sands even make it seem as if this whale is still swimming through the desert, because it tends to turn up at different places across The Badlands.
